Esperanza Academy Charter School (EACS) located in North Philadelphia is accepting applications for a full time Elementary English Language Development teacher for the 2018-19 school year. EACS is a safe, structured, supportive and disciplined environment in which to teach. The Academy has 11th grade test scores above the city of Philadelphia average and value added math and reading proficiency growth among the highest in Pennsylvania. Students graduate at a rate exceeding 90% and drop out at a rate of only 1%.  For four consecutive years, EACS has been recognized for its academic achievement by U.S. News and World Report and was awarded with  silver and bronze medals.   EACS is committed to tailoring curriculum and instruction to the needs of our student body.   

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop lesson plans and analyze tasks that translate lessons into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
  • Use instructional materials to provide individualized and small group instruction that adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
  • Work directly with students that speak English as their second language.  
  • Revises existing curricular materialsincluding unit plans and assessments, in response to student achievement data.
  • Develop assessments that measure progress toward the academic standards.
  • Ensure that students master grade level standards
  • Implement the school’s policies and procedures regarding student conduct and expectations.
  • Student - centered, outcome - based teaching philosophy and pedagogy.
  • Actively participate in grade-level meetings, collaborative planning, and professional development to gather information about student progress 
  • Works collaboratively with instructional staff and parents to champion a high-quality education for every student.

 Qualifications include: 

  • Bachelor's degree 
  • Appropriate Certifications include PK-4, K-6, or Early Childhood N-3
  • ESL Program Specialist
